The Enright Ridge Urban Eco-village, Inc. (ERUEV) is a registered 501(c)(3) organization located in the East Price Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. ERUEV also operates in tandem with Imago Earth Center and [https://communityearthalliance.org/ Community Earth Alliance]. The Eco-village includes Enright Avenue, Terry Street, McPherson Avenue, and Wells Street. There are multiple gardens that are dispersed throughout the block either as their own lots or in member's backyards, there is also a greenhouse that acts as the distribution center for member's shares. As of 2007, ERUEV became registered members with the Fellowship for Intentional Community.[1]

About

ERUEV was founded in 2004 by 19 residents who came together to establish "a community for people who are working to live more sustainably and with more awareness of the earth, whether it's planting gardens, rehabbing houses, or hosting community dinners."[2] The mission of the eco-village is: "Building a new way of life on the foundations of this beautiful historic area (affordable homes, the acres of forest that surround the ridge, and a traditionally strong sense of community) to create a healthier, more sustainable neighborhood."[2] The eco-village encompasses 90 properties with a majority of members living on Enright Avenue, about 40 percent of the homes in the eco-village are owned and inhabited by ERUEV members.[2] As of August 2016, the eco-village has 102 buildings and 119 households including seventeen homes they have purchased, rehabbed, and saved from foreclosure.[3]

The eco-village is one important piece of a larger vision to educate and foster sustainable living on the community level. The other active organizations and establishments in ERUEV include Imago Earth Center, a CSA, Community Earth Alliance, and Common Roots Pub. These other elements all support one another,[3][2] thus fostering a sustainable network of resources needed for grassroots development to thrive.
