On February 28th, a group of his supporters registered under Esperanza por El Cambio with the CNE.[8] While Bertucci was required to renounce his legal title as a pastor to comply with Article 227 of the [https://es.wikisource.org/wiki/Constituci%C3%B3n_de_la_Rep%C3%BAblica_Bolivariana_de_Venezuela_(1999) Venezuelan constitution], which states that presidential candidates must not be affiliated with any religious organization [9][10], a great deal of support for El Cambio emerged from his international fame as a religious figure and founder of the church "Maranatha Venezuela."[11] During the presidential campaign, the organization prepared sancochos (soup) because Bertucci argued that combating hunger is urgent, and if there is hunger, nobody will listen to a political speech.[12][13] In the presidential elections, Bertucci got 1,015,895 votes that represented 10.82% of total votes.[14] From that election, one of the party's candidates in the Bolívar state won their election.{{clarify|date=January 2019}}[15][16] Electoral Participation in the 2018 Municipal electionsOn September 21st, 2018, Alfonso Campos, the general secretary of the party, announced the postulation of candidates in the 335 municipalities for the December 9th municipal elections and confirmed a national tour by Javier Bertucci.[17][18] On October 6th, EL CAMBIO confirmed the "La Alianza Democrática" (The Democratic Allience) with the political parties: COPEI, MAS, AP, CMC, and MOVEV; where the last three form the coalition "Concertación por el Cambio" (The Accord for Change).[19][20] On November 22nd in a press conference from Caracas, Bertucci announced that the party postulated 4,430 candidates to the municipal elections[21] The list of councilors by state, municipality and in parroquias (parish) can be found on the CNE website under the name "EL CAMBIO."
