It is developed by balena, and licensed under Apache License 2.0.[2] Etcher was developed using the Electron framework and supports Windows, macOS and Linux.[3][4][5][6][7] The latest stable release of balenaEtcher is version 1.4.9.[8] balenaEtcher was originally called Etcher, but its name was changed on October 29, 2018 when Resin.io changed its name to Balena.[9] balenaEtcher uses Google Analytics and Mixpanel, even when the 'Send anonymous usage data' checkbox is checked off.[10] FeaturesEtcher is primarily used through a graphical user interface.
