He served until 1955, and did not stand for re-election in the 1955 election. He returned to his work as a lawyer, and was appointed as a county court judge in 1958.[1] As a judge, he was most noted for his ruling in a 1964 trial that the novel Fanny Hill was obscene under the Criminal Code.[5] He died in 1971.[1] References1. ^1 2 3 "Legislator for Ontario city became judge".
