HistoryFIGS was founded by Heather Hasson and Trina Spear in Los Angeles, California in 2013.[1][2] In July 2013, the company raised $2 million in seed funding from an investor group that included 500 Startups, Mohr Davidow Ventures, Karlin Ventures, and shoe manufacturer, Crocs.[3] The company maintains an office in the Los Angeles area.[4] In December 2015, FIGS was selected to join the Endeavor network, a startup accelerator and mentorship program.[5] In May 2016, the company raised $5 million in a series A round of funding led by Campfire Capital and including Irving Place Capital and previous investors.[2][6] In January 2018, the company raised $65 million in a funding round led by Tulco, a holding company owned by film executive, Thomas Tull. Tull, who had previously owned a small stake in the company, became a majority owner of FIGS at that time.[7][8] OperationFIGS sells scrubs and other associated medical apparel for medical professionals, including nurses and nurse practitioners.
