It is situated underneath Avinguda Joan Carles I, at the intersection with Pedrosa and Botànica streets. It has a direct access to Fira Gran Via's main entrance. The station was designed by Japanese architect Toyo Ito. The station opened for passenger service on 12 February 2016, when the {{convert|20|km|mi|adj=mid|-long}}, 15-station portion belonging to Barcelona Metro line 9 between Barcelona–El Prat Airport and Zona Universitària station in western Barcelona started operating. Designated L9 Sud ("L9 South"), the new Barcelona Metro line 9 section offers a regular service frequency of 7 minutes in each direction, though additional partial services may be added if necessary.[2] References1. ^{{cite map |publisher=Autoritat del Transport Metropolità |title=Integrated Railway Network |url=http://doc.atm.cat/ca/xarxa_ferrov_global.pdf |format=PDF |date=August 2013 |accessdate=26 June 2014 }} 2. ^{{cite press release |url=http://premsa.gencat.cat/pres_fsvp/docs/2016/01/27/14/32/8d85782c-7ce1-4b0b-845a-b8d5a15588ed.pdf |title=El conseller Rull anuncia la posada en servei del nou tram de l’L9 el 12 de febrer |trans-title=Minister Rull sets the opening date of Line 9's new section for 12 February |format=PDF |website=Sala de premsa |language=Catalan |publisher=Generalitat of Catalonia |date=27 January 2016 |accessdate=27 January 2016}} External links
