It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.[1] It was deemed significant as "the only Neo-Classical Revival style commercial building in Gary. In addition to its singular quality, the structure is also a good example of South Dakota's work with the Neo-Classical Revival on a very small scale."[3] It is a one-story building constructed of cut limestone. Its facade includes two pilasters with Doric capitals, and modillions below the cornice.[2] It served as a bank from 1917 until the Great Depression.[2] References1. ^1 {{NRISref|version=2010a}} {{National Register of Historic Places}}{{SouthDakota-NRHP-stub}}2. ^1 2 {{cite web|url={{NRHP url|id=77001242}}|title=National Register of Historic Places Inventory/Nomination: First National Bank / Waltz's Meat Market |publisher=National Park Service|author=Edith French |date=May 1975 |accessdate=March 9, 2018}} With {{NRHP url|id=77001242|photos=y|title=photo from 1987}}. 5 : Banks based in South Dakota|National Register of Historic Places in South Dakota|Neoclassical architecture in South Dakota|Buildings and structures completed in 1917|Deuel County, South Dakota |
