Early careerFlorence Parly was appointed Secretary of State for the Budget on January 3, 2000 in the Socialist government of Prime Minister Lionel Jospin. In office until May 6, 2002, she seconded Christian Sautter, then Laurent Fabius at the Ministry of Finance[1][2]. Parly worked at Air France as deputy general director, before moving to become director-general of SNCF Voyageurs until 2017.[3] She also served on the boards of French companies Altran, Ingenico and Zodiac Aerospace.[4] Minister of the Armed ForcesParly was named Minister of the Armed Forces on 21 June 2017 after Sylvie Goulard was forced to resign due to investigation of her party.[5] Following the nomination, she resigned from all her board positions; and her husband Martin Vial withdrew from his position on the board of Thales Group.[6] Shortly after taking office, Parly ordered an investigation into allegations brought forward by the satirical weekly Le Canard Enchainé according to which the acting head of the French Air Force allegedly borrowed a Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jet on weekends to fly from his base in Bordeaux to his home in Provence.[7] References1. ^Kim Willsher (June 21, 2017), [https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jun/21/two-more-macron-allies-quit-french-government-amid-funding-inquiry Macron appoints new faces to senior roles after four ministers resign] The Guardian. {{s-start}}{{s-off}}{{s-bef|before=Sylvie Goulard}}{{s-ttl|title=Minister of the Armed Forces|years=2017–present}}{{s-inc}}{{s-end}}2. ^[https://www.voanews.com/a/france-macron-brings-corporate-background-to-cabinet-shake-up-/3912142.html France's Macron Brings Corporate Background to Cabinet Shake-up France's Macron Brings Corporate Background to Cabinet Shake-up] Voice of America, June 21, 2017. 3. |publisher=Huffingtonpost.fr |date=17 February 2013 |accessdate=22 June 2017}} 4. ^Matthieu Protard and Mathieu Rosemain (June 26, 2017), [https://www.reuters.com/article/france-thales-idUSL8N1JN46A Head of French state holding agency asks to be replaced at Thales board] Reuters. 5. ^{{cite web|last=Press |first=Associated |url=https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/french-president-macron-has-named-former-executive-florence-parly-as-defense-chief-in-government-reshuffle/2017/06/21/dce137f6-56a6-11e7-840b-512026319da7_story.html |title=French President Macron has named former executive Florence Parly as defense chief in government reshuffle |publisher=The Washington Post |date= |accessdate=22 June 2017}} 6. ^Matthieu Protard and Mathieu Rosemain (June 26, 2017), [https://www.reuters.com/article/france-thales-idUSL8N1JN46A Head of French state holding agency asks to be replaced at Thales board] Reuters. 7. ^Rory Mulholland (June 28, 2017), [https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06/28/french-air-force-chief-investigation-allegedly-using-fighter/ French air force commander under investigation for allegedly using fighter jet to fly to Provence home] Daily Telegraph.
