By 1999, Fort James was operating nine of the eleven largest {{convert|270|in|ft m|1|adj=on}} wide tissue machines in the world.[5] In 2000, the Fort James Corporation was acquired by Georgia-Pacific for $11 billion;[5][3] GP is based in Atlanta, Georgia.
