Life and careerTarleton was born in county Monaghan, Ireland and was educated at TCD (BA 1861, MA 1865) where he spent his entire career. While at UCD he served as bursar, senior dean, and vice provost, and was awarded an honorary ScD in 1891.[3] He wrote several books on dynamics and the mathematical theory of attraction.[4] He was active in the posing and solving of mathematical problems in the Educational Times[5] and was called to the bar in 1868.[2] Books
