History{{Location map|California|label=|marksize=6|mark=Blue_pog.svg|lat_dir=N| lat_deg=36|lat_min=45 |lat_sec= |lon_dir=W|lon_deg=119|lon_min=46|lon_sec= | position=right| float=right|caption=Location of Fresno, California}}While the exact date of the first known footage said to depict Fresno nightcrawlers is unknown, The Odyssey Online reported that the footage dates back to the 1990s.[2] The footage is claimed to have resulted from an anonymous home owner in south Fresno, California having installed surveillance cameras to capture evidence of neighborhood dogs trespassing in his yard.[3] The video, which was obtained from one of the individual's security cameras, shows two pale, long-legged entities striding across the lawn.[2] In 2011, when security officials of Yosemite National Park were reportedly hoping to identify a group of vandals who had been damaging and thieving private property, a pair of bipedal humanoids with similar appearances to those shown in the original Fresno footage were captured on park security cameras.[2][4] The beings have reportedly been recognized by at least one local Native American tribe, and certain Native American wood carvings have been noted as bearing a significant resemblance to the Fresno nightcrawlers.[2][5] In popular cultureThe original Fresno surveillance footage was featured on the second episode of the first season of the paranormal investigation television series Paranormal Files, which originally aired in 2010.[6][7] See also
