Also known as Friedensthal Moravian Church, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.[1] In German, Fridensthal means "valley of peace". The mission complex is significant as it was one of the first Moravian missions in the Virgin Islands, and it played a role in preparing slaves for emancipation.[3] The listing included four contributing buildings and two contributing structures on {{convert|5|acre|ha}}.[1] The mission complex includes a manse (built in 1830) which is {{convert|46|x|62.5|ft|m}} in plan, a church (1852), a slave quarter and kitchen, and a 20th-century schoolhouse.[2] References1. ^1 2 {{NRISref|version=2010a}} {{National Register of Historic Places}}{{NRHP-stub}}{{USVirginIslands-stub}}2. ^1 {{cite web|url={{NRHP url|id=78002719}}|title=National Register of Historic Places Inventory/Nomination: Friedensthal Mission / Friedensthal Moravian Church|publisher=National Park Service|author=Russell Wright and Annie Hillary |date=June 6, 1977 |accessdate=May 24, 2017 }} With {{NRHP url|id=78002719|photos=y|title=three photos from 1977-78}}. 4 : National Register of Historic Places in the United States Virgin Islands|Buildings and structures completed in 1830|Christian missions|Moravian churches in the United States Virgin Islands |
