He can play either of the centre positions but is primarily an inside centre. Playing styleHe has good passing skills and also represents an auxiliary kicking options in the back-line. He is noted for his physicality despite his relative lack of size by modern standards for his position.[2] School and familyHe is the son of former Ireland rugby great Brendan Mullin, considered to be amongst the finest Irish players in the history of the game. Like his father, Gavin attended famed rugby nursery Blackrock College, winning a Leinster Schools Junior Cup medal in 2013. He was also a standout member of the school's unsuccessful 2016 Leinster Schools Rugby Senior Cup side.[2] LeinsterMullin joined the Leinster Rugby academy ahead of the 2017-18 season, going on to make his debut for the senior team later that season against Zebre, along with several other academy squad members.[3][4] InternationalMullin played seven times for the Ireland U-20s across the 2017 Six Nations Under 20s Championship and the 2017 World Rugby Under 20 Championship. In a difficult year for U-20 rugby in Ireland, Mullin was part of the team that lost against hosts the Georgia U-20s for the first ever time, meaning a then joint-worst ever finish of ninth at the World Rugby Under 20 Championship.[5] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.irishrugby.ie/rugby/fixturesandresults/squads_ireland_u20.php?player=131371&includeref=dynamic|title=Irish Rugby|website=Irishrugby.ie|accessdate=21 October 2018}} 2. ^1 {{cite web|url=https://www.ultimaterugby.com/player/view/10770|title=Gavin Mullin|website=Ultimaterugby.com|accessdate=21 October 2018}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.leinsterrugby.ie/max-deegan-awarded-senior-contract-as-academy-roster-announced/|title=2017/18 Leinster Rugby Academy Roster Announced - Leinster Rugby|date=27 June 2017|website=Leinsterrugby.ie|accessdate=21 October 2018}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.rte.ie/sport/rugby/2018/0407/952869-leinster-report-clean-bill-of-health-after-win/|title=Leinster report clean bill of health after Zebre win|date=7 April 2018|website=Rte.ie|accessdate=21 October 2018}} 5. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.rte.ie/sport/rugby/2018/0607/968990-ireland-u20s-slump-to-first-world-loss-to-georgia/|title=Ireland U20s slump to first loss to Georgia|first=John|last=Fallon|date=7 June 2018|website=Rte.ie|accessdate=21 October 2018}} External links
