In 2011 Clark published The Raw Man. The Guardian said the novel, set during the Zimbawean war for independence, "captures liminal characters at a liminal moment in Zimbabwe's history."[2] The novel was translated into French by Cécile Chartres and Elisabeth Samama[1] as Les Douze Portes dans la maison du sergent Gordon.[3] In 2006 Clark won the O'Henry Prize for his short story "The Center of the World," published in the Georgia Review.[4] References1. ^1 {{cite news|last1=Hecht|first1=Emmanuel|title=George Makana Clark l'Africain|url=http://www.lexpress.fr/culture/livre/george-makana-clark-l-africain_1710132.html|accessdate=16 September 2016|work=L'Express|date=August 31, 2015}} {{Authority control|VIAF=305137188|LCCN=nb2012015642|BNF=17011132g}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Clark, George Makana}}{{AfricanAmerican-bio-stub}}{{US-writer-stub}}{{Zimbabwe-writer-stub}}2. ^{{cite news|last1=Habila|first1=Helon|title=The Raw Man by George Makana Clark - review|url=https://www.theguardian.com/books/2011/jun/04/raw-man-george-makana-clark-review|accessdate=16 September 2016|work=The Guardian|date=3 June 2011}} 3. ^{{cite news|last1=Ovaldé|first1=Véronique|title=Seconde chance.
