He was President of the Chamber of Deputies of Uruguay between 1 March 2016 and 1 March 2017. He replaced {{illm|Alejandro Sánchez (Uruguayan politician)|lt=Alejandro Sánchez|es|Alejandro Sánchez (político)}}.
