}}Briana Joy Johnson (born July 26, 1994), better known by her stage name, Geron, is an American singer-songwriter and actress based in New York City.[1] She is currently signed to the record label, Bergeron Musique.[2] Geron released her first single, Push in 2015.[3] She is also the founder of Bergeron Musique, the music company she formed in 2016.[4] Geron has released six singles till date and her debut album, Tainted is slated to be released in February 2019.[5][6]

Biography

Geron was born in Mobile, Alabama, in 1994, into an African-American family.[7] Her father, Gregory Johnson, is a retired US Navy veteran from New Orleans, Louisiana and her mother, Kathleen Johnson, is a former US Air Force veteran. Geron also has French Creole ancestry from her father's background of Bergeron.[8] She is the youngest of her three siblings.[9] Till the age of eight, Geron was a military dependent and lived at multiple locations in Louisiana, Virginia and North Carolina before moving to Kennesaw, Georgia in 2002 with her family.[10] Geron grew up as a Christian and performed as a soloist in her church choir by nine years old. She attended Kennesaw Mountain High School where she graduated in 2011.[11] While attending school, she was involved in the Arts and played viola at Kennesaw Mountain High Orchestra for three years.[7] She is currently attending Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.[12] Geron began song-writing in 2010, at the age of 16. She started to perform locally on stage in Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C. and surrounding areas, in 2015. Her debut single, Push, was released by Bergeron Musique in 2015.[13] Her second single See It Now was released subsequently in 2016.[14] Geron released 4 singles in 2018. She also released 2 music videos in 2018.[15] Geron is a trained pianist. She also had training in vocals and classical music.[9] Geron attended American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City where she had training in performing arts.[16] She appeared in Wildflowers in a supporting role, in 2011. She also had a role in Disney Channel's Let it Shine, a 2012 musical film.[17][7]
