Plot

The series follows two girls, Yuuri and Chito, as they navigate the ruins of civilization after an unknown apocalypse, and as they travel in their modified Kettenkrad, they seek food and supplies while surviving day-to-day.

Characters

One of two protagonists. Nicknamed "Chii-chan," she has dark hair and a wide knowledge of machines. She drives the Kettenkrad. She is literate, unlike Yuuri, and an avid reader. She is generally calm and composed, but can be riled by Yuuri on occasion.

The second protagonist. Nicknamed "Yuu," she has blonde hair and is more easy-going than Chito, and she is also proficient with rifles. She rides in the back of the Kettenkrad. She is rather gluttonous, often wanting to eat more than they have.

A traveler Chito and Yuuri meet while trying to find a path to the upper stratum of the city. He is a cartographer who wants to map the entire city. He gifts his Camera to Yuuri and Chito, when he leaves, to continue his map.

A scientist who lives in an abandoned airbase. When Chito and Yuuri encounter her, she enlists their help to build an airplane based on old records so that she can fly to another city. She gives Yuuri and Chito potatoes and tells them where to find them.

A mysterious creature that Chito and Yuuri pick up on their journey, and they initially assume it to be a cat. It can shapeshift to activate mechanisms and communicate via radio signals, and has a habit of eating bullets. It is later revealed to be part of a species that consumes weapons and power sources to stabilize them. After discovering more of its own kind, it leaves with them.

Anime

An anime television series adaptation by White Fox was announced by Kadokawa at Anime Expo 2017, with Takaharu Ozaki as director, Kazuyuki Fudeyasu in charge of series composition, and Mai Toda adapting the character designs for animation.[22] The series aired in Japan between October 6 and December 22, 2017 on AT-X and other stations.[23] The voice actresses of the protagonists, Inori Minase and Yurika Kubo, perform the opening and ending themes, {{nihongo|"Ugoku Ugoku"|動く、動く|Moving, Moving}} and "More One Night".[24] Sentai Filmworks have licensed the series and streamed the series on Anime Strike.[25] MVM Films has licensed the series in the UK.[26]

The creature then explains that their race's purpose is to consume and stabilise unstable energy, like power sources and weapons, saying that the world will eventually come to an end. Before leaving with Nuko, the creature point out that it and the rest of its kind have not discovered any other humans besides Yuuri and Chito, implying they may be among the final humans on Earth, but it also points out that, they have not checked the top level of the city. With the submarine completely shut down, Chito and Yuuri continue their journey towards the top level of the city, with a new sense of how important they are to each other.

The English release of the first two volumes were included on the American Library Association's list of 2018 Great Graphic Novels for Teens.[27] Girl's Last Tour also won the "Best Slice of Life" category in the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2017.[28]
