Akauveh Erumena Glenn (born July 22, 1985), better known by his stage name Glenn Mena is a Nigerian model, singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and all round contemporary artiste. The idea behind the crooner’s music is to touch as many genre as he can without any restrictions whatsoever while having fun at it. [2] He began his career while in secondary school, with his friend before his professional career as a music artist began in 2012.[3] Glenn Mena shot into limelight after his song titled "Movement" won him a nomination in the "New Artist" category at the 2013 City People Entertainment Awards.[4][5] At the 2013 MAYA Awards he was the winner of the "Best New Act"[6] category and the same song also won him another nomination in the "Next Rated Act" category at the 2015 Scream All Youths Awards.[7] He currently co-owns an independent record label called Mask and Music Group.

Personal life

Glenn Mena is the second son of Mr and Mrs M. Akauveh Akarah. He is second out of five siblings that consists of an elder brother Akauveh O. Patrick and three younger sisters; Akauveh U. Christabel, Akauveh Ufuoma Wendy and Akauveh Amazing-grace Elona. He is a Business Administration graduate from Lead City University, Ibadan.[8]

Early life and education

Glenn Mena was born in Warri, Delta State; the South-South region of Nigeria into the family of 5. He completed his basic school education at DSC Primary school, Warri; Peace Secondary school Sedco, Warri and James Welch Grammar school, Emevor. He then furthered his secondary education with a transfer to Methodist Comprehensive College, Sagamu in Ogun State. He is an alumnus of the Lead City University, Ibadan after graduating with B.Sc honors in Business Administration.[8]

Career

In 2012, Mena debuted with "Movement"[9] the song gained public acceptance. Later in 2015 he followed it up with another single release "Packaging"[10] the song which also had it own critical reviews. In January 2017, he was featured on TV Presenter Shine Begho's "Mischief Show"[11] where he dropped a freestyle that hinted the released of his first ever EP Mask&Music[12][13] another body of work his fans where pleased with. He then moved on to release another single in August 2017, "Take Over",[14][15] a low-tempo song.

The singer is said to be working on series of new projects in 2018, he recently dropped a new single "SWERVE" which features South-African based artist Problem, the song was in rotation on major radio stations in Nigeria, including Metro 97.7 FM.[16][17] Some reports have it that some of the planned projects are music videos, singles,[18][19] collaborations (one which will see him feature soul-singer Jimoh Waxiu[20]) and also a secret show in the Southern part of Africa.[21].[22]
