It was described by Povolný in 1998. It is found in North America, where it has been recorded from Yukon, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Nevada.[1][2] The length of the forewings is 5.9-6.2 mm. The forewings are covered by a dense mixture of deep grey or blackish scales. There are two deep black stigmata surrounded by brownish scales. Cinereous whitish scales indicate an external transverse band.
