It was described by Annette Frances Braun in 1926. It is found in North America, where it has been recorded from Manitoba, Yukon and California.[1][2] The length of the forewings is 5.7-6.5 mm for males and 6.4-7.4 mm for females. The forewings are ochreous tan with numerous spots of chocolate to rust brown. The costal margin is usually pale cinereous and there are indications of blackish stigmata in the cell, surrounded by pale scales. The hindwings are whitish with darker dusted veins and margin. Adults have been recorded on wing in April, July and August, probably in multiple generations per year. The larvae possibly feed on Salix species.[3] References1. ^{{cite web |last=Savela |first=Markku |url=http://www.nic.funet.fi/pub/sci/bio/life/insecta/lepidoptera/ditrysia/gelechioidea/gelechiidae/gelechiinae/gnorimoschema/#vastificum |title=Gnorimoschema vastificum Braun, 1926 |website=Lepidoptera and Some Other Life Forms |accessdate=June 1, 2018}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q22286252}}{{Gnorimoschema-stub}}2. ^{{cite web |url=http://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.edu/species.php?hodges=2008 |title=421265.00 – 2008 – Gnorimoschema vastificum – Braun, 1929 |website=North American Moth Photographers Group |publisher=Mississippi State University |accessdate=June 1, 2018}} 3. ^Holarctic Lepidoptera 8 (Suppl. 1): (1-53) 2 : Gnorimoschema|Moths described in 1926 |
