He was the founder of the IEM Society & IEM Group of Institutions, which include the Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM), the IEM Industrial Training Centre (IEM-ITC), and Gopal Krushna College of Engineering & Technology (GKCET). Gopal Krishna Nahak was born to Shri Gourahari Nahak and Smt. Champa Nahak. Shri Gourahari Nahak was a renowned contractor in the undivided Koraput district.
