释义 |
Gore is an unincorporated community in Hocking County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. HistoryOld variant names of Gore include Hamlin, New Gore and Burgessville.[1] Burgessville was first to be laid out, in January 1871.[2] Hamlin was laid out in February 1871. These nearby rival towns, separated only by railroad tracks, eventually merged.[2] The community is said to derive its name from the dressmaking term "gore".[3] References1. ^{{GNIS|1075939}} {{Hocking County, Ohio}}{{coord|39|34|49|N|82|17|42|W|type:city_region:US-OH_source:GNIS-enwiki|display=title}}{{HockingCountyOH-geo-stub}}2. ^1 {{cite book|title=History of Hocking Valley, Ohio: together with sketches of its cities, villages and townships|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=3elPAQAAIAAJ&pg=PA889|year=1883|publisher=Inter-State Pub.
