He also served on several occasions the position of defensor de menores of the city.[10] FamilyGregorio Ramos Mexía was the son of Juan Ramos Mexia and María Josefa Márquez de Velazco, belonging to a noble Sevillian family. He was married in the Buenos Aires Cathedral to María Cristina Ross del Pozo Silva,[11] daughter of Guillermo Ross, a Scottish military man, who professed the Protestant religion and Maria Antonia del Pozo Silva y Toledo, born in 1719 in Buenos Aires.[12] He and his wife were the parents of numerous children, including Hilario Ramos Mexía, Francisco Ramos Mejía and Ildefonso Ramos Mexía, Governor of Buenos Aires Province in 1820.[13] Gregorio was the patriarch of the Ramos Mexia family in the Argentina, related to the founding of the city Ramos Mejía in Buenos Aires Province.[14] Through his descendants his family became related to the Canaveris and Esparza families.
