Becker's compositions have been recorded by notable recording artists such as Carrie Underwood[10], Tim Mcgraw[11][12][13][14], Rascal Flatts[15][16], John Paul White [17], Brett Eldredge, Billy Currington[18], Alan Jackson[19][20][21], Leann Rimes[22], Chris Cagle[23], Meat Loaf[24][25][24], Alex Williams[26], and Randy Bachman[27], and have been placed in the feature films Beethoven’s 4th, Country Strong[28][29], Flicka[30], and New In Town.[31]

Leighton Meester's re-release of Becker's song Words I Couldn't Say appeared on several Billboard Charts after its appearance in the 2010 film Country Strong.

Becker has worked as a staff songwriter for CAA, Warner/Chappell Music[10][32], SonyATV, BMG[32], Almo Irving Music,[10] Famous Music, and Southern Crossroads Music[33][34]

Education and personal life

Gregory Becker was born in Boston Massachusetts. He attended the University of Rochester, the University of New Hampshire[35][2] and Berklee College of Music.[10][2][32] He worked at M.I.T.[2] and relocated to Nashville, Tennessee where he currently lives.

Career

Gregory accepted a position at M.I.T. Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington Massachusetts. While working at the laboratory he taught himself how to play guitar and speak German. He played at coffee houses and open mics around Boston for several years. He formed the band Duck and Cover with Roger Fisk and Johnny Snapps. Gregory played drums, guitar, sang lead and background vocals and wrote material for the band. Duck and Cover played Boston clubs such as the Rathskellar, Bunrattys, The Channel, The Middle East and T.T. the Bears.[13][8] [36][37][38][13][8][9][39][40][41][42][43][44]

His works have been recorded by notable recording artists including Carrie Underwood, Tim Mcgraw,[45] Rascal Flatts, Brett Eldredge, Billy Currington, Alan Jackson, Leann Rimes, Chris Cagle, Emerson Drive, Meatloaf, and Randy Bachman.[15][25][24][12][46][47] His songs have also been featured in films such as Beethoven’s 5th, Country Strong, Flicka, and New In Town.[25][13][8][48][49][50][51][52]

Gregory worked as a songplugger for Copperfield Music and Randy Scruggs Music. He has been a staff writer for CAA, Warner Chappell, SonyATV, BMG, Almo Irving Music, Famous Music, and Southern Crossroads Music.[13][8][53][54][55][56]

Becker's musical titled "Wonder Women The Musical" was named an official selection of the 2018 Atlanta Musical Theater Festival. The book, music and lyrics were written by Becker.[57]

Awards

In 2005 an 2006, Becker composed songs for the Rascal Flatts recordings Feels Like Today and Me and My Gang, each receiving a CMA nomination for Album of The Year.

In 2006, Gregory Becker, Melissa Peirce, and Steve Robson composed the song That's Where It Is for the Carrie Underwood recording Some Hearts which won Billboard Music Awards Country Album of The Year, ACM Album Of The Year, AMA Favorite Country Album.

In 2007, Becker composed the title song Somebody Wrote Love for George Canyon's fourth studio album which won a Juno Award for Country Recording Of The Year as well as CCMA Single Of the Year[67].

In 2014, Becker and Jon Nite composed the song Book Of John for the recording Two Lanes of Freedom which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Country Album Of The Year.
