It is endemic to Western Australia.[1] The annual herb can have an erect or prostrate habit typically growing to a height of {{convert|1|to|20|cm|in|1}}. It blooms between August and December producing white flowers.[1] It is found around salt lakes and other saline areas and was a scattered distribution throughout the Mid West, Wheatbelt and Goldfields-Esperance regions of Western Australia where it grows in sandy, loamy or clay soils.[1] The species was first formally as Aizoon rodwayi by the botanist Alfred James Ewart in 1908 in his work Contributions to the Flora of Australia as recorded in Proceedings of the Royal Society of Victoria. Gardner reclassified it into the Gunniopsis genera in 1930 in the work Enumeratio Plantarum Australiae Occidentalis.[2] References1. ^1 2 {{FloraBase | name = Gunniopsis rodwayi| id = 2808}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q15611840}}2. ^{{cite web|url=http://bie.ala.org.au/species/http://id.biodiversity.org.au/node/apni/2915753#names|title=Gunniopsis rodwayi (Ewart) C.A.Gardner|accessdate=16 January 2017|work=Atlas of Living Australia|publisher=Global Biodiversity Information Facility}} 4 : Gunniopsis|Flora of Western Australia|Plants described in 1930|Taxa named by Charles Gardner |
