Guoyao Wu is a Chinese-American animal scientist. He is a Distinguished Professor of Animal Science at Texas A&M University and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). BiographyWu received an undergraduate degree in animal science from the South China Agricultural University, then a master's degree in animal nutrition from Beijing Agricultural University. He earned master's and Ph.D. degrees in animal biochemistry from the University of Alberta, Canada. He completed postdoctoral research at McGill University Faculty of Medicine and Memorial University of Newfoundland Faculty of Medicine in Canada. He is a Distinguished Professor of Animal Science at Texas A&M University.[1] He is also affiliated with the university's Mentored Research Program in Space Life Sciences, where he examines nutrition issues related to space travel and skeletal muscle metabolism.[2] Much of Wu's research has focused on the arginine-nitric oxide pathway, as well as the syntheses of the arginine-family of amino acids (including arginine, citrulline, glutamate, glutamine, and proline) and glycine in animals.[1] He recently proposed two important new concepts in nutrition: functional amino acids and dietary requirements of animals for synthesizable amino acids. In 2012, Wu was elected fellow of the AAAS.[3] He is listed among the Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researchers for 2014-2018.[4] His papers have been cited over 46,500 times with the H-index of 109 in Google Scholar (as of October 30, 2018). Three of his journal articles have each been cited over 2,400 times. In 2004, he received the AFIA Nonruminant Nutrition Research Award from the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS). In 2009, he received the FASS-AFIA New Frontiers in Animal Nutrition Award from the Federation of Animal Science Societies.[5] In 2018, he received the Morrison award from the ASAS. He is on the editorial boards of "Amino Acids", "Frontiers in Bioscience", and the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry.[6] References1. ^1 {{cite web|title=Guoyao Wu|url=http://animalscience.tamu.edu/people/wu-guoyao/|publisher=Texas A&M University|accessdate=November 17, 2015}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Wu, Guoyao}}2. ^{{cite web|title=Guoyao Wu, Ph.D.|url=http://slsgraduateprogram.tamu.edu/nsbri/content.aspx?page=260|publisher=Texas A&M University|accessdate=November 17, 2015}} 3. ^{{cite web|title=AAAS Members Elected as Fellows|url=http://www.aaas.org/news/aaas-members-elected-fellows-2|publisher=American Association for the Advancement of Science|accessdate=November 17, 2015}} 4. ^{{cite web|title=Archives: 2014 HCR as of September 8 2015|url=http://highlycited.com/archives/|publisher=Thomson Reuters|accessdate=November 17, 2015}} 5. ^{{cite web|title=Past FASS-AFIA New Frontiers in Animal Nutrition Award Winners|url=http://www.fass.org/awards.asp|publisher=Federation of Animal Science Societies|accessdate=November 17, 2015}} 6. ^{{cite web|title=The Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry Editorial Board|url=http://www.journals.elsevier.com/the-journal-of-nutritional-biochemistry/editorial-board/|publisher=Elsevier|accessdate=November 17, 2015}} 5 : Living people|Texas A&M University faculty|Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science|ISI highly cited researchers|Year of birth missing (living people) |
