Around 27 students who are mostly girls were killed in the incident.[2][3] All victims bodies later were buried in a special Muslim cemetery at Padang Lumat as the "27 Syuhada Peristiwa Kebakaran Pondok Pak Ya" (27 Martyrs of the Taufiqiah Al-Khairiah madrasa fire).[1] See also
