Universal described the roller coaster as "a highly-themed roller coaster that will take us into a different corner of the wizarding world, where guests will encounter some of their favorite characters and creatures.”[3] The attraction will replace the Dragon Challenge roller coaster, which closed on September 4, 2017.[4][5] HistoryConstruction for Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure began early January 2018, after land clearing was completed on the site that the Dragon Challenge occupied.[6] According to Alan Gilmore, art director of the Potter films and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, over a thousand trees were planted to create the woodland that would set the theme of the Forbidden Forest.[7] Ride testing began as of February 26, 2019.[8] Ride experienceThe attraction will take Muggles on a journey through the Forbidden Forest, coming face to face with magical creatures of the Wizarding World on Rubeus Hagrid's motorcycle.[9][10] Riders will travel up to 50 mph as they encounter Fluffy the three-headed dog, Cornish Pixies, Centaurs, Devil's Snare and an unnamed creature that was not featured in any of the Harry Potter films.[11] CharacteristicsTrainsThe attraction's vehicle will be modeled after Hagrid's motorcycle, which appeared in the first and seventh films.
