{{1991 football in Sweden}}The 1991 season in Swedish football, starting January 1991 and ending December 1991: Events The 1991 and 1992 seasons of the Swedish national leagues were played using a very unusual and complicated system involving separate leagues for spring and autumn, where teams playing at different levels during the spring could be playing in the same league during the autumn. It was even possible for a team playing in the third level (Division 2) at the start of the season to gain promotion to the first level (Allsvenskan) for the start of the next season. The footnotes linked at top of each league table and play-off round gives a full explanation of the promotion and relegation rules for the league or play-off in question. Thus for example GAIS are not listed as having been promoted from Kvalsvenskan to Allsvenskan, as the team started the season playing in Allsvenskan. Any team which in a league table is being colour-coded as promoted, transferred or relegated, but not listed here, did not change status between the start of the two seasons. 2. ^IFK Göteborg (winners of Svenska Cupen) qualified for the UEFA Champions League 1992–93 as winners of Mästerskapsserien 1991 and thus AIK was awarded the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup spot. 3. ^Team 1 to 6 in Allsvenskan advances to Mästerskapsserien, and team 7 to 10 advances to Kvalsvenskan. 4. ^1 2 3 Team 1 advances to Kvalsvenskan, team 2 to 7 advances to Höstettan, and team 8 advances to Kvalettan. 5. ^Team 1 to 6 in Mästerskapsserien plays in Allsvenskan the next season. 6. ^The teams brought half the points collected in Allsvenskan to Mästerskapsserien.
