The Hardman Hotel is a historic hotel that operated in Hardman, Oregon during the town’s peak. HistoryThe hotel's earliest confirmed owner was Charles H. Hams who was listed as the proprietor in August 1904. Hams was an Englishman who immigrated to the United States in 1872 and began homesteading in the Hardman area in 1884. He eventually sold his ranch and cattle business in 1903 and purchased a hotel and livery station in Hardman.[1] J. C. Owen assumed proprietorship of the Hardman Hotel around 1911. Other proprietors included F. M. Scrivner, E. Chapel, W. H. Royse, J. McDonald, and B. F. DeVore.[2][3][4][5][6] The Hardman Hotel was described circuitously via one local news report which described Royse as having "advertised room and board [at the hotel] at $12 a month; single meals, 25 cents." Moreover, Royse was quoted as saying, "a large quality of hay and grain always kept on hand, and the best possible care taken of all teams left in my charge."[4] The hotel hosted dance parties for Hardman youngsters, according to a local press report.[7] References1. ^{{Cite news|url=https://oregonnews.uoregon.edu/lccn/sn97071042/1952-01-03/ed-1/seq-1/|title=Former Morrow Couple, 100 and 94 Years, Soon To Celebrate 71 Years of Married Life|last=|first=|date=3 January 1952|work=Heppner Gazette-Times|access-date=|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|publisher=University of Oregon Libraries; Image provided by: Morrow County Museum; Heppner, OR}} {{coord missing|Oregon}}2. ^{{Cite news|url=https://oregonnews.uoregon.edu/lccn/sn97071037/1918-11-08/ed-1/seq-6/|title=Heppner Herald, November 08, 1918, Image 6|last=University of Oregon Libraries|first=Image provided by: Morrow County Museum; Heppner, OR|date=November 8, 1918|work=Heppner Herald|access-date=|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=}} 3. ^{{Cite news|url=https://oregonnews.uoregon.edu/lccn/sn94049698/1911-03-23/ed-1/seq-8/|title=Heppner Gazette, March 23, 1911, Image 8|last=University of Oregon Libraries|first=Image provided by: University of Oregon Libraries; Eugene, OR|date=March 23, 1911|work=Heppner Gazette|access-date=|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=}} 4. ^1 {{Cite news|url=https://oregonnews.uoregon.edu/lccn/sn97071042/1973-10-04/ed-1/seq-1/|title=Heppner Gazette-Times, October 04, 1973, Image 1|last=University of Oregon Libraries|first=Image provided by: Morrow County Museum; Heppner, OR|date=October 4, 1973|work=Heppner Gazette-Times|access-date=|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=}} 5. ^{{Cite news|url=https://oregonnews.uoregon.edu/lccn/sn94049698/1902-10-09/ed-1/seq-3/|title=The Hardman Section|last=|first=|date=9 Oct 1910|work=Heppner Gazette|access-date=11 November 2017|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|publisher=University of Oregon Libraries; Image provided by: University of Oregon Libraries; Eugene, OR}} 6. ^{{Cite news|url=https://oregonnews.uoregon.edu/lccn/sn97071040/1904-08-25/ed-1/seq-5/|title=Notes|last=|first=|date=25 August 1904|work=Heppner Times|access-date=11 November 2017|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|publisher=University of Oregon Libraries; Image provided by: Morrow County Museum; Heppner, OR}} 7. ^{{Cite news|url=https://oregonnews.uoregon.edu/lccn/sn97071042/1929-10-31/ed-1/seq-5/|title=Heppner Gazette-Times., October 31, 1929, Page 5, Image 5|last=University of Oregon Libraries|first=Image provided by: Morrow County Museum; Heppner, OR|date=October 31, 1929|work=Heppner Gazette-Times|access-date=|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=}} 2 : Hotels in Oregon|Buildings and structures in Morrow County, Oregon |
