It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.[1][2] It was deemed notable "for its association with community planning and development and ... for its engineering method of construction. It is a unique example of a late 19th century standpipe with a base constructed of local materials and a standpipe constructed of riveted iron plates. The fish wind direction indicator on top still moves, and the standpipe is in current use as a part of the city water system."[2] References1. ^1 {{cite web|url=https://www.nps.gov/nr/listings/20170714.htm| date=July 14, 2017|title=Weekly list |publisher=National Park Service}} {{National Register of Historic Places}}{{Kansas-NRHP-stub}}2. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://www.kshs.org/resource/national_register/nominationsNRDB/HarperCounty_HarperStandpipeNR.pdf |title=National Register of Historic Places Registration: Harper Standpipe / Harper Water Tower; KHRI #077-50 |publisher=Kansas|author=Clayton Snyder |author2=Amanda K.
