BiographyHe was the son of Adam Konigmacher Fahnestock (1806–1887) and Sibyl Thompson (Holbrook) Fahnestock (1811–1851). He married Margaret A. McKinley. Through his son, Clarence Fahnestock, he was the father-in-law of Marguerite Sawyer. He was a "successful investment banker and financial advisor to President Abraham Lincoln." He co-founded First Nation Bank of New York, a predecessor to Citigroup.[3] He was father of Harris Fahnestock (1869-1939).[3] One of his grandsons was William Fahnstock, who, at age 23, was the youngest member of the New York Stock Exchange.
