In 1995, he was appointed Chairman of the Energy Regulatory Commission in Mexico.[5][6] During his tenor, he led the design of a regulatory and institutional framework for the power and gas sector that promote the private participation sector, creating a climate of transparency and regulatory certainty for project development.[7] Since 2004, Hector has been the President and CEO of Gauss Energia, a business development firm that specialize on Mexico's energy sector.[8][9] Since 2014, Dr. Olea is President of ASOLMEX (Asociacion Mexicana de Energia Solar Fotovoltaica).[10][11] He is a co-chairman of US-MX Energy Business Council and member of the Mexican Energy Council.[12][13][14][15] Awards and honors
