词条 | Henry Wood Hall, Glasgow |
释义 |
The Henry Wood Hall in Glasgow is located in the city's fashionable West End. The building, a former Congregational church, is a distinctive feature on the landscape with its Gothic Victorian spire. The hall was the main base, rehearsal and recording studio for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scotland's national symphony orchestra, for over thirty years, until their 2015 move[1] to the RSNO centre within the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, where most of their performances in the city now take place. The orchestra originally played in the city's St. Andrew's Hall, until the hall was destroyed by fire in 1962, then the SNO played in a series of venues of varying suitability. Finally in 1979, the redesign of the Trinity Church in Claremont Street gave the SNO a permanent home of its own: the SNO Centre and Sir Henry Wood Hall.[2] References1. ^{{cite web |title=RSNO History page |url=https://www.rsno.org.uk/history/#milestone-2015 |website=Royal Scottish National Orchestra}} {{coord|55.8652|N|4.2806|W|source:wikidata|display=title}}{{Scotland-church-stub}}2. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.allmusic.com/artist/scottish-national-orchestra-mn0001345036|title=Scottish National Orchestra – Biography, Albums, Streaming Links – AllMusic|publisher=}} 3. ^http://www.rsno.org.uk/press/2012-02-07.php 4 : Category B listed buildings in Glasgow|Concert halls in Scotland|Gothic Revival architecture in Scotland|Former churches in Scotland |
