The locals on the island of Usedom called the pier after the German Emperor Wilhelm II (Kaiser Wilhelm Brücke). The whole structure of the pier was decorated and housed numerous shops and restaurants.[2] In 1958, the whole pier was burned down by a fire. The current pier's construction began in May 27, 1994. The current pier was complete in June 3, 1995. The current pier houses a Museum of the Concert Shell, cinema, café, restaurant, fitness centre, tourist gift shops and a holiday village.[3] References1. ^{{cite web|title=Pier History|url=http://www.seebrueckeheringsdorf.de/|website=Seebruecke Heringsdorf|accessdate=16 October 2015}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Heringsdorf Pier}}{{Germany-stub}}2. ^{{cite web|title=Pier Photograph|url=http://www.locationscout.net/germany/1194-pier-of-heringsdorf-usedom|website=Photograph of Heringsdorf Pier|accessdate=16 October 2015}} 3. ^{{cite web|title=Future Plans|url=http://www.ostsee-zeitung.de/Vorpommern/Usedom/Wirtschaft/Marina-Gemeinde-prueft-Machbarkeit-fuer-die-Region|website=Ostsee Zeitung|accessdate=16 October 2015}} 2 : Piers in Germany|Mecklenburg-Vorpommern |
