According to the 2011 Indian Census, the town consists of 23,000 people. The town has a literacy rate of 82.60 percent which is higher than Karnataka's average of 75.36 percent.^[2]

Climate

The average rainfall per annum in the census town is 660.5 millimeters. The maximum temperature is 33°Celsius and minimum temperature is 12°Celsius.^[1]
