}} | HMS Thais was a 10-gun {{Sclass-|Cherokee|brig-sloop}} built for the Royal Navy during the 1820s. She was lost in 1833. DescriptionThais had a length at the gundeck of {{convert|90|ft|m|1}} and {{convert|72|ft|3|in|m|1}} at the keel. She had a beam of {{convert|24|ft|8|in|m|1}}, a draught of about {{convert|9|ft|m|1}} and a depth of hold of {{convert|11|ft|m|1}}. The ship's tonnage was 230 64/94 tons burthen.[1] The Cherokee class was armed with two 6-pounder cannon and eight 18-pounder carronades. The ships had a crew of 52 officers and ratings.[2]Construction and careerThais, the second ship of her name to serve in the Royal Navy,[3] was ordered on 23 March 1823, laid down in July 1828 at Pembroke Dockyard, Wales, and launched on 12 October 1829.[2] She was completed on June 1832 at Plymouth Dockyard and lost with all hands off the coast of Galway, Ireland, in December 1833[4]Notes1. ^Winfield, p. 1079
