词条 | Hole (association football) |
释义 |
The space an attacking footballer can occupy between an opposition team’s defence and midfield. It can cause confusion for a defending team as a defender can be unsure whether to advance and can leave a midfielder unsure if to track back. A player in this position is tasked with creating space and offering opportunities to the main striker and even scoring themself if they get the opportunity. They need to be particularly alert to the position and movements of other players.[1] Kenny Dalglish was very successful playing ‘in the hole’ behind Ian Rush for Liverpool Football Club during the 1980s.
