The House of Hazelwood range was created as a tribute to William Grant's granddaughter, Janet Sheed Roberts, who died in April 2012 when she was the oldest person in Scotland.^[2]^[3] She was a director of William Grant & Sons and an influential character within the company. Previous blends have been created under the Hazelwood name to commemorate her 100th and 110th birthdays.^[4]

The brand's name is taken from that of Roberts' home, Hazelwood House, the dower house of Kininvie Castle.^[5]
