It was built in 1928 for O. E. Gorton and his wife, Nell Houser.[2] The Gortons raised hogs and cattle on their farm.[2] The Housers were settlers in Obion County; the first member of the family was Anthony Houser, who received a land grant in 1841.[2] The house was sold out of the Houser family in 1989.[2] The house was designed in the American Craftsman architectural style.[2] It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since July 17, 2002.[1] References1. ^1 {{NRISref|version=2013a}} {{National Register of Historic Places}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Houser House}}{{Tennessee-NRHP-stub}}2. ^1 2 3 4 {{cite web|url={{NRHP url|id=02000809}}|title=National Register of Historic Places Inventory/Nomination: Houser House |publisher=National Park Service|author= |date= |accessdate=July 15, 2018}} With {{NRHP url|id=02000809|photos=y|title=accompanying pictures}} 3 : National Register of Historic Places in Obion County, Tennessee|Houses completed in 1928|American Foursquare architecture in Tennessee |
