It is a Grade II* listed building. Its associated barns and stable block have their own Grade II listings. HistorySir Cyril Fox and Lord Raglan date the house to 1540-1550 in their three-volume guide Monmouthshire Houses.{{sfn|Fox|Raglan|1994|pp=89-91}} It was extended in the 17th century, and altered in the 19th century.[1] It remains a private house and had further, minor, modifications in the 20th century.[1]Architecture and descriptionThe architectural historian John Newman describes the farmhouse and its buildings as "a fine group".{{sfn|Newman|2000|pp=256-257}} Cadw records the farmhouse as a "a very good 16th century yeoman's house".[1] The house is built entirely of stone{{sfn|Newman|2000|pp=256-257}}, an approach to construction then rare in Monmouthshire, although common in England.{{sfn|Newman|2000|pp=256-257}}{{sfn|Fox|Raglan|1994|pp=89-91}} It is built to a two-room, two-storey plan, with a slate roof.[1] The building is notable for its impressive Tudor windows and a "rich" range of interior period features.[1] The farmhouse is a Grade II* listed building.[1] Its two barns and the associated stable block have their own Grade II listings.[2][3][4] Notes1. ^1 2 3 4 5 {{cite web|url=http://cadwpublic-api.azurewebsites.net/reports/listedbuilding/FullReport?lang=en&id=2049|title=Listed Buildings - Full Report - HeritageBill Cadw Assets - Reports|website=cadwpublic-api.azurewebsites.net}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=http://cadwpublic-api.azurewebsites.net/reports/listedbuilding/FullReport?lang=en&id=23966|title=Listed Buildings - Full Report - HeritageBill Cadw Assets - Reports|website=cadwpublic-api.azurewebsites.net}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://cadwpublic-api.azurewebsites.net/reports/listedbuilding/FullReport?lang=en&id=23965|title=Listed Buildings - Full Report - HeritageBill Cadw Assets - Reports|website=cadwpublic-api.azurewebsites.net}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://cadwpublic-api.azurewebsites.net/reports/listedbuilding/FullReport?lang=en&id=23964|title=Listed Buildings - Full Report - HeritageBill Cadw Assets - Reports|website=cadwpublic-api.azurewebsites.net}} References
