The film narrows the life of Lorenzo da Ponte, Italian Freemason who didn't give up to his libertinism and omosexual relations, despite he was ordered as a Priest by the Roman Catholic Church. When the Holy Inquisition accused da Ponte of the betrayment of the Christian faith, condamning him to the guilt of the exile, his close friend Giacomo Casanova wrote a presentation letter for Antonio Salieri, before da Ponte left Venice to Vienna. Here, he was introduced by Salieri to Mozart and wrote le Nozze di Figaro. By the intervention of Casanova, da Ponte Mozart persuaded to publish a second edition of the Don Giovanni, that was played in presence of the Emperor Joseph II, obtaining a great success. Cast
