The painting was registered as an original Murillo in the 1979 catalogue by Diego Angulo Íñiguez, Spanish art historian.[1] It belonged to the French marshal Horace François Bastien Sébastiani de La Porta, an officer who participated in Napoleon's invasion of Spain in 1807. The painting traveled with him back to Paris and remained there until {{ILL|Jean-Baptiste-Pierre Lebrun|fr}} purchased it on the recommendation of his wife, the portraitist of Marie Antoinette, Louise Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun. De la Porta suggested to her husband, giving it back to Spain.[2] References1. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.biografiasyvidas.com/biografia/a/angulo_iniguez.htm|title=Diego Angulo Íñiguez|access-date=|author=|enlaceautor=|date=|language=|sitioweb=|editorial=}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Inmaculada Concepcion (Murillo, 1670)}}2. ^1 {{Cite book|author=Museo Soumaya|title=Coleccion Museo Soumaya |volume=1|url=|year=2015|publisher=Fundacion Carlos Slim|isbn=|editor=|page=139|language=|chapter=}} 2 : Baroque paintings|Spanish paintings |
