ConstructionSa'ar 4.5-class missile boats are an enlarged version of the {{sclass-|Sa'ar 4|missile boat|4}}.[1] New ships were longer and consequently they take an augmented armament.[1]INS Keshet was built at the Israel Shipyards in Port of Haifa. She was launched in October 1982.[1][2] Dimensions and driveThe length of this unit is {{convert|61.7|m|ftin}}, the breadth is {{convert|7.6|m|ftin}} and the draught is {{convert|2.5|m|ftin}}.[7] She has a flush deck, short superstructure located in front of the midship and freeboard.[7] The full load displacement is 488 tonnes.[1][2] The total power of engines is {{convert|16000|hp|lk=in}}.[1][7] Keshet is proppeled by four MTU 16V538 TB93 Diesel engines. The flank speed of her is {{convert|31|kn|lk=in}};[1][7] the range is {{convert|3000|nmi|lk=in}} at a speed of about {{convert|17|kn}} and {{convert|1500|nmi}} at {{convert|30|kn}}.[1][16] ArmamentThe primary armament is two quadruple launchers of American Harpoon anti-ship missiles, both allocated behind the superstructure.[1][7] The missile is able to reach {{convert|130|km|mi|abbr=on}}, the speed is {{convert|0.9|Mach|lk=in}} and the weight of the warhead is {{convert|227|kg|lb|abbr=on}}.[1][2] Behind them, there are six single launchers of Israeli Gabriel Mark II missiles[1][2] with a {{convert|75|kg|lb|abbr=on}} warhead and a range of about {{convert|36|km|mi|abbr=on}}.[1][2] In service, the Israeli Navy set two 8-fold anti-aircraft Barak 1 launchers with the range of a projectile of {{convert|10|km|mi|abbr=on}}, making the armament identical to one in {{INS|Hetz|1991|6}}.[3][4] The secondary armament consists of single, dual purpose gun OTO Melara 76 mm, allocated abaft in a gun turret. The weight of the projectile is {{convert|6|kg|lb|abbr=on}}, the range is {{convert|16|km|mi|abbr=on}} and the rate of fire is 85 rounds per minute (RPM).
