Irfan Brković (born 1986, in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina) is an Bosnian visual artist and cinematographer^[1]. Concentrating primarily on film and video performance since 2007, he has filmed documentary and narrative films^[2] and numerous video pieces^[3]. He is founder of audio visual group Fa11out and digital studio Vidokrug^[4].

Career

Irfan began working in film in the 2000s after receiving his B.A. from Academy of Fine Arts Tuzla. He produced and filmed documentary shorts^[5]^[6] with premieres at Cineteca National Mexico^[7], Warsaw Film Festival, Vilnius International Film Festival^[8] and Kasseler Dokfest.^[2] In 2014 he attended Berlinale cinematography workshop held by Fred Kelemen where he filmed feature narrative Sarajevo Songs of Woe.^[9] He then moved to New York and filmed documentary The Healing Power of Jazz^[10] for The New Yorker.

His artworks combine new media and analog hardware equipment. He uses modified printers, copy fax machines, video mixers and game consoles. With his group Fa11out he performed around Europe^[11] and released music for drum and bass labels based in United Kingdom^[12]. Irfan Brković has solo exhibited and performed at different venues around the world.^[13]

Irfan has been a visiting lecturer of cinematography at Sarajevo Film Festival and engaging artist and activist in Bosnia and Herzegovina.^[14]

Recognition

In 2017 he was a finalist of the NASA Space Apps Challenge in the category "Best use of hardware" among the top 20 of over 2000 solutions around the world.^[15]
