She was born in Bègles and received a master's degree in literature and a {{ill|Certificat d'aptitude au professorat de l'enseignement du second degré|fr}} in library technology.[1] Her first comic was published in the German magazine {{ill|Schwermetall|fr}}. In 1992, Dethan received the {{ill|Prix jeune talent|lt=Alph'Art Avenir|fr}} prize at the Angoulême International Comics Festival. In 1993, she began her trilogy {{ill|Mémoire de Sable|fr}}. She is a contributor to the magazine {{ill|Je bouquine|fr}}. Dethan has also created a graphic novel based on Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.[2] Selected work[2][1]
