}} Jabari Carl Bird (born July 3, 1994) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the California Golden Bears. He was selected in the second round of the 2017 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics. He suffered a concussion in a loss to Oregon on March 11, 2017.[3] Professional careerBoston Celtics (2017–2019)2017–2018 seasonAfter finishing his senior year at California, Bird was selected with the 56th pick of the 2017 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics.[4] On September 5, 2017, Bird was signed to a two-way contract by the Celtics. Under the terms of the deal, he split time between the Celtics and their G-League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws.[5] Bird made his professional debut on October 20, 2017 against the Philadelphia 76ers. He played 13 minutes and scored 3 points in a 108–98 win over the 76ers.[6] On February 2, 2018, Bird and teammate Kadeem Allen were named to the Midseason All-NBA G League East Team after averaging 19.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.[7] On April 6, 2018, Bird scored 15 points in 24 minutes in a Celtics game against the Bulls.[8] 2018–19 seasonOn July 26, 2018, the Boston Celtics re-signed Bird.[9] On September 8, 2018, Bird was arrested and is facing domestic abuse and kidnapping charges. Bird was placed under police guard at a hospital, as was his alleged victim.[10][11] Before the incident occurred, it was revealed that Bird was previously dealing with emotional issues, including panic attacks.
