John Calvin Briggs was born on August 1, 1920 in Schenectady, New York. His father was Walter W. Briggs and his mother was Alice Knight.{{citation needed|date=February 2018}} He was known for Joan of Paris (1942), My Forbidden Past (1951) and Ladies' Day (1943). He was married to Ginger Rogers from 16 January 1943[2] to 7 September 1949.[3] He died on August 22, 1998 and was buried at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, in Schuylerville.
