In summer 1965, members of the party which maintained an opposition status were arrested and it continued activities in small circles underground.[4] In 1977, the leaders split. Payman founded Movement of Militant Muslims and Sami revived the organization with the same acronym, this time standing for "Revolutionary Movement of Muslim People of Iran" ({{lang-fa|جنبش انقلابی ملت مسلمان ایران}}).[2] References1. ^1 2 {{cite book |author=Ali Rahnema|title=An Islamic Utopian: A Political Biography of Ali Shariati|publisher=I.B.Tauris|pages=29|date=2000|isbn=1860645526}} {{Iran defunct parties}}{{Iran-party-stub}}2. ^1 2 {{cite book |author=Houchang E.
