James Ryan (March 24, 1830 – January 5, 1913) was a member of the Wisconsin State Senate and the Wisconsin State Assembly. BiographyRyan was born on March 24, 1830 in what would become Fort Howard, Wisconsin.[1] He was a publisher by trade[2] and editor of The Crescent.[1] He married twice: to Mary Griffis in 1858, and to Caroline Studley in 1906.[1] He died at his home in Appleton in 1913.[1] Political careerRyan was a member of the Senate from the 22nd District during the 1876 and 1877 sessions[1] and a member of the Assembly during the 1882 and 1883 sessions.[3] Additionally, he was an alderman and City Treasurer of Appleton, Wisconsin.[1] He was a Democrat.
